What compensates more? a huge field or fields the size of

What compensates mai? a large field with 255 of space for example or a field of given size that will treat?

The ideal is to have the fields in the size that will be used.
Have cases that waste bytes doesn't make a difference but in most cases, where the hardware already ta working overloaded, not worth making things worse.

Of course a field SUPERVISION must allow enough space, but a field UF has no reason to have a large space.

If that's right, you can use the type varchar2, which stores only o que will use indeed.

If Oracle varchar2, but in cases of other banks, you can search for varchar, because the more well known and have a decent type ' varchar '.
