LONG data type

Personally, I would like to know how to move through a field with long data type, I need to find a string specifies in it!
the instr does not work bench version 8

Well, the LONG field only exists for compatibility issues. It was replaced by the LOB and CLOB (character) ...

OK, but anyways I have to treat this field, turns it into another type paa power traverse it, behind the string I need

The answer is all in the DBMS_LOB.
If u is in SQL * Plus and give a
Code: Select all
SQL> desc dbms_lob
will see that has several functions that DBMS_LOB. Among them, the INSTR you're looking for. I suggest taking a look at the documentation to see examples of how each of them works.
