Environment information:
* Oracle version: 9.2i
* Operating system: Sun Solaris 9
Hello everyone!
Well, as you can notice by the topic title, I am a beginner
I was granting some material on the resources of 10G, and I would like to make a comparison with version 9i. It's actually a "why migrating from 9i to 10g?"
The materials I have encountered are: http://www.profissionaloracle.com.br/mo ... it&lid=253 http://www.profissionaloracle.com.br/mo ... it&lid=268 http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd ... 14/toc.htm
I would like to know if anyone has already made this comparison And if you could give me this information?
Thanks for the attention and I apologize if I have created the topic in the wrong place.
Embrace for all.
Why migrate 9i to 10g?

Sorry, but I do not think I was very clear in my question ...
As you could see, this material that you passed on the link is also among those I found and I'm trying to grip.
What I need is to make a picture with advantages / disadvantages / risks of this process.
for sure the "disadvantages" will not find on the Oracle website, so I am using the forum where those who have worked with both versions can give an initial kick, if possible by providing some material with this analysis, if anyone already You have done it.
of qualquer form I thank you for the attention
Has anyone under a similar situation?

Topic edited by moderator. Phrases such as: "Search on google"
If it were you would start with the basics, analysis and risk, unavailability, clients software test, "plan B ", that kind of thing.
About the disadvantages, of course Oracle does not go by ...
Oracle 10G is the improvement of 9G and is better, only asks for more memory and more initial processing .
But if havaling and testing the points that said above, you will see that it is better.
wants an example ....
Search on the Microsoft website, disadvantage of Windows XP in relation to Windows 98.
does not have ... clear, because it is better. ..a only would be ... a better machine, right?

Thank you Anderson, by the useful part of your response.
Thanks also moderator for the withdrawal of the "sermon"
well, it is precisely this analysis that I am doing Mr. Anderson, but you must know the expression "reinvent the wheel". Well, I'm avoiding that.
returning to the topic, when I say "disadvantages" I'm sure new products always bring improvements, but sometimes it entails problems as well, which are detected only during their use. What I want is to make use of the expertise of the forum members who are willing to help to elaborate something that covers these "disadvantages" if someone has come across any.
If someone has come across this and want / can share the discussion will be very welcome.
Once again, my thanks to you.

Normal, let's leave these details aside.
But about the experience, I tell you one thing, I'vê been through several migrations and always every case is different, there are software that goes well and there are some that simply had to return the version, it did not work Even and the software manufacturer (bank client) despite saying that it was homologated, sometimes it did not work.
The only advice I give you is .... Creates a migration and forehead environment ... all ... Everything you can, only so you will know or ensure that everything will give right or wrong.

Here where I work we are migrating from 6i to 10g ... and it seems that there are several bugs that change the version of Forms 6i to 10g ....
porque has to change some D2Kwutil procedures for Webutil and there are also some problems that Oracle has not yet answered us in Metalink ... an example of them is the problem of the playsound, that Oracle has not yet given us an answer ....
