Environment Information:
* Oracle version: 11g
* Operating system: Windows XP
expensive, I am analyst SQL Server 2000 programmer / 2005 and I'm trying to install Oracle Database 11g on my Pentium D - 1GB of RAM.
What happens is that when I install all 11G components my machine is practically dominated by Oracle, getting very slow.
I intend to make the installation to start studying the PL-SQL / SQL Plus language (I have not studied the details of each of them) and learn the basics of database management .
I want to install only the essential, at first so that I start knowing the Oracle environment.
Thanks
Which components install (Oracle 11g)?

if you want to study only pl-sql and sql-plus, install the oracle xe = d
it is well levinhu, but it does not come With Plus ...
or então, install the first release of 10G
Thur he is also usable .....
and if you install the 10g só for study, do not install the interprise, because it has a thing that you do not use for pl / sql, but for dba ...

It's hard, Lucas! I say I need to learn how to use the PL-SQL language, but the focus is even bank administration. I have not yet dimensioned what changes from the 10G version to 11g, but I would like to have some of the main ADM também tools.
Now, if I only install database, do you think I can do anything?

então, on Bank I do not know MTA thing ...
more I think before you even want to learn bank, you have to know a little pl / sql também ....
and about installation, I think it has a bench thing, that's hidden, that you only see you find yourself in the configuration of it, então it's good to install and get mechendo in the options that he has, to be changing the pfile and everything ....

I managed to install 11g on a 512 machine, to work, I downloaded several uncomfortable Linux services, which every time it looks like Windows in that part and used 11g without Enterprise Manager because it uses much of it.

To run the basics, you can take everything and leave the least.
I recommend keeping Enterprise Manager, as it makes it easy for administration and only withdraw it in case of very little memory, eg. 1GB or less. Unfortunately 1GB is very little for Oracle.
