I am migrating Oracle version 8.0.5 to 9 and I have been reading in the Oracle website files regarding the migration and I saw that it is necessary to migrate to version 8.0.6 and then proceed, due to the limitations of 8.0.5 [
What I would like to know is what version of Linux (preferably the Red Hat or SUSE that supports the respective versions 8.0.5; 8.0.6; 9)

if anyone knows Clarify something about it Thank you !!!! :!:

See that links Linux distros supported and versions (for the current oracle versions): http://otn.oracle.com/tech/linux/htdocs ... tributions
These old versions is a problem even ... I think you would have to contact Oracle support and see with them the best way. (if they support, you are calm) ...

Which Linux Distributions Are Directly Supported by Oracle?

The Following Distributions Are Certified and Supported By Oracle:

* Red Hat Enterprise Linux As and ES
* Novell / SUSE SLES8 AND FUTURE VERSIONS
* Oracle Will Continue To Provide Customer Support For UnitedLinux 1.0, ThroughOt Its Life Cycle, On All The Existing Oracle Products That Are Already Supported On UnitedLinux. The Products Supported by Oracle, the Part of UnitedLinux, INCLUDE:
The Linux Enterprise Edition Powered by UnitedLinux
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 (SLES 8) Powered by UnitedLinux
Turbolinux Enterprise Server 8 Powered by UnitedLinux
* Redflag DC Server (China Only)
* Miracle Linux Standard Edition (Japan Only).

Oracle Does Not Want to Support Fragmentation in The Linux Operating System Market. There are an indeterminate number of linux distributions in the market. Customers have consistently asked for stability, Better Performance, and Reliability of the Linux Platform as well as Enterprise-Class Support. Oracle CANNOT BE EFFECTIVE IN SERVICING CUSTOMERS IF We attempt to support Large Number of Different Linux Distributions.

Because é man, because I did so, I configured a machine with Windows 2000 Server and Oracle 9.2.1 in it, and tenho a database server running SUSE 9 with Oracle 8.0.5 I created a base on my Windows server and I configured Enterprise Manager to have access to 2 bases, with the help of intelligent agents to discover bases in network us I have been able to set up my base automatically, unlike my Linux server, by water version of Oracle being a 'little' oldest Agents failed to configure this in good, what does not allow me to clone the old base or try to copy all schemas and their objects to my new base, as OEM 9i accuses that the point must be configured by some smart agent and not manually .... I was saber and I discovered that if I want to make the migration this way I will have that before it migrates my Oracle 8.0.5 to a version 8.0.6 and and the bixo gets .... because my server is Linux and I não manjo 'shit' none of linux, only I installed the SUSE in my micro at home for studies (futures) so I think I was walking right when the subject was in Windows, if my server was windows I'm sure I could migrate but how I could not import data from 8.0 .5 for 9.2.1 Due to the problem I quoted above and a way the server was going to be linux .... wanting or not ehehehe complicated that I did not know the compatibility of the Oracle versions with the Linux versions

In theory the 9i tools are compatible with Oracle 8i, 8 and 7. would have to work.
Instead of using Inteligent Agent, have you ever tried to create the connection between 9i in Win2000 and 8 on Linux?
For you to have an idea, I have already been able to create connection between 9i and Oracle RDB (Ex- Digital RDB) that is going there former ...

Speak Kim_Kaphwan ... (I remembered the Fatal Fury Championships and The King of Fighters who participated, by the way one of my favorite fighters heheheh without commenting on the Boazuda of the Andy's May wife ...)
] I was reading about this problem and logically, in the theory the 9i is compatible yes, but with versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7 according to Oracle's own Migration manual. As for smart agents, I forced myself to set up the connection between the versions, and they 'worked' but do not offer me all the features available in version 9 OEM, and just that I can not make a backup or clone the base 8.0.5 Because it has been configured manually, at this very moment I and the guy who takes care of the Linux server we are migrating to 8.1.7 ... let's see later as it stays.
